Workflow

Using FLUX.2 Dev

  1. Choose a supported generation mode in Playground.

Practical guidance

  • Describe the subject, action or composition, environment, and visual direction in a clear order.
  • For image editing, state what should change and what should remain unchanged.
Capabilities

Available on MachGen

Text to image

Describe subject, composition, lighting, lens, materials, and style to generate a new still.

Image editing

Attach up to three ordered source images and describe what should change or combine.

Output size

Choose one of the five fixed size presets shown in the playground. Billing is based on output megapixels.

Reproducibility

Set a seed when you need controlled comparisons between prompt or setting changes.

Prompting

Prompting notes

  • Name materials, light direction, camera distance, and mood - concrete nouns beat vague adjectives.
  • Describe composition explicitly: subject placement, foreground, background, and negative space.
  • When typography matters, put the exact string in quotes and keep the surrounding layout simple.
  • Change one prompt variable at a time and keep the seed fixed when comparing results.
Best results

How to get better FLUX.2 Dev results

  • Describe composition and spatial relationships explicitly instead of listing disconnected objects.
  • Give each source image a role, such as subject, pose, material, palette, or background.
  • Use exact color names or values when palette control matters.
  • Keep the seed fixed while refining a promising composition and review the FLUX.2 Dev license for the intended use.
Limits

Limits and availability

  • MachGen admits only the modes and settings listed above for this catalog model.
  • Source assets must finish uploading before a request can be submitted.
  • Generated results can vary between requests, including when the same prompt and settings are reused.
  • FLUX.2 Dev runs on MachGen-managed inference infrastructure rather than being forwarded to a provider API.
