Veo 3.1 Standard is Google's video model for prompt-directed clips with native audio. The upstream Veo family supports additional image-guided workflows, but this MachGen catalog entry currently exposes text-to-video only.

On MachGen, choose 16:9 or 9:16, a 4, 6, or 8 second duration, and one of the resolutions shown above. Generated Veo video may include Google's SynthID watermark. For lower-cost iteration, use Veo 3.1 Fast.

  • Describe the subject, action, environment, camera, lighting, and audio in a clear order.
  • Use concrete camera language such as wide shot, close-up, tracking shot, or slow push-in.
  • Put short spoken lines in quotation marks and describe the intended speaker.
  • Keep each clip focused on a small number of actions, then review motion, speech, and continuity before production use.
Best results

How to get better Veo 3.1 Standard results

  • Write prompts like a compact shot brief: subject, action, setting, shot size, camera move, lighting, then sound.
  • Put spoken dialogue in quotation marks and keep it short enough for the selected duration.
  • Avoid contradictory camera instructions such as static tripod and rapid handheld tracking in the same shot.
  • Use Fast for exploration when appropriate, then move the strongest prompt to Standard for the final pass.
Limits

Limits and availability

  • MachGen admits only the modes and settings listed above for this catalog model.
  • Source assets must finish uploading before a request can be submitted.
  • Generated results can vary between requests, including when the same prompt and settings are reused.
  • Veo 3.1 Standard is pass-through. MachGen sends the request through its upstream provider integration and returns the generated asset.
